These pictures are of the art created during Drawing: Testing and Trusting Yourself…it's about the journey, one of the 12 workshops that took place last week as part of our opening faculty meetings.
This next to last exercise is all about the light, dark and in between shades. Until reading about and watching this lesson, I had no idea that shadows had so many parts: highlight, midtones, shadow edge, cast shadow, core shadow, and the reflected light!
These two drawings focus on shadows. While the contours may be a bit off, I quite like the effect of incorporating shadows, as the result is more interesting and displays more depth.
We put on close to 1100 miles from Mamaroneck, NY to Newington, NH, then on to Maine and the towns of Belfast, Castine, Stonington, Brooklin, Blue Hill, Camden, Rockland, Rockport, Round Pond, Brunswick and Bowdin, then back again to Newington, NH.
My Aunt invited me to the MOMA last Monday. Just some shots that struck my fancy. Fitting end to the day – family of 4 on the train, Mom with an iPhone, kids each with their own iPod Touch ;-)
